10 Bangladeshis produced in Jalpaiguri court

SILIGURI, 3 MAY: A total of 10 Bangladeshi citizens were produced before the Jalpaiguri court today. One of them ~ Abdul Hossain alias Salem ~ was remanded in police custody for interrogation.
Acting on a tip-off, Dhupguri police station intercepted 11 Bangladeshi nationals from a hotel yesterday and after interrogation police finally arrested 10 persons and released one of them, who showed valid documents, for touring Indian Territory.
Interrogating Bangladeshis, police came to know that they came here in search of job. According to police, they crossed the border through the Hill area in South Dinajpur with the help of a group of touts active along the India-Bangladesh border.
One of them identified as Abdul Hossian came to Bhutan from Bangladesh three years ago used to work there as a daily labour.
Police suspect that Abdul managed Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) from this region when he used to work in Bhutan and started working in different states in India.
According to a senior police officer, other nine Bangladeshi citizens decided to came in India with the help of Salem in search of job. They came to stay at a hotel near Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri to manage fake EPIC for all of them before leaving for Kerala.
