Police concerned over seized explosives



MALDA, 27 JULY: A team of senior police officers from Kolkata including the ADG Security, Mr A K Maliwal and the deputy inspector general, CID (Special Operations Group), Mr Siddhinath Gupta today expressed concern about the improvised explosive devices recovered from Malda since Friday. Mr Maliwal said: “We never saw such components used in manufacturing remote controlled IEDs in West Bengal. Such IEDs are used for anti-national activities.” The Malda police handed over the case to the CID and the CID officials have collected the IEDs after defusing those for more examination and forensic tests. The CID is of the opinion that the kingpin Jahangir Momin, who is still absconding, had been trained to manufacture such IEDs. ;SNS

Documentary film

MALDA, 27 JULY: The district administration has approached the state information and cultural affairs department for the list of enlisted directors to make a documentary film on the inputs collected from successful projects implemented under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in Malda. The additional district programme coordinator for NREGA, Mr Kajal Banerjee informed today while addressing a programme of IEC (information, education and communication) on NREGA implementation. ;SNS
