MALDA, Feb. 12. — Malda CPI-M will inaugurate a newly contracted bridge on the river Kalindri at Madia Ghat tomorrow, which was inaugurated by the Malda congress yesterday, people at Malda are enjoying the political race today. Party sources said that the state minister for food process industries and horticulture, Mr Sailen Sarkar and the PWD minister both would be present to inaugurate the bride on Monday, following the invitation of the PWD (Road) department. On the other hand, being a chief of the Malda Zilla Parishad, congress leader Mr Goutam Chakraborty took initiative to inaugurate the bridge by the Malda MP, Mr ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury on Saturday so that the CPI-M cannot claim its credit on the question of development here before assembly election . It was also alleged that the PWD department could not adjust the schedule of its inauguration according to the desire of the congress Sabhadhipati, Mr Chakraborty. The Sabhadhipati reportedly told the PWD officials that he would be busy with another job on 13 February. In the invitation letter printed by the PWD (Road) the names of the congress leader and Sabhadhipati, Mr Goutam Chakraborty and the Malda MP, Mr A B A Ghani Khan Choudhury have been printed. In order to fulfill long-standing demand of English Bazaar and Ratua people, the state had allotted more than Rs 5 crore from the soft loan schemes sponsored by NABARD under rural infrastructure development fund project during the period of the then district magistrate Mr AR Bardhan, more than three years back.
