Student protest over Gour Express

Statesman News Service
MALDA. Feb. 20.— After Malda Congress the CPI-M-backed student and youth organisations put up a rail blockade at Malda town station at 8-30 pm today in protest against the decision of delay the departure of the Gour Express from Sealdah. A decision has been taken to start the train from Chitpur. The object of this programme is to stop the movement of the Gour express from Malda town station at night to press the Eastern Railway authorities, DYFI leaders said. Yesterday, when the Congress ended its movement after the decision of the Eastern Railway authorities to stay the decision of shifting the terminal for at least one week, the DYFI launched another programme in English Bazaar town at evening. On the other hand, the RSP-backed organisation staged a protest rally at Mangalbari in Old Malda this evening. Yesterday the Malda MP announced that they would launch continuous stir if the railway authorities did not solve the problem permanently.
