Ghani urges unity among Congress workers

MALDA, Jan. 5. — Veteran Congress leader and Malda MP, Mr ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury, today criticised the state administration, terming them as “anti-public”.Addressing a law-violation programme organised by the Malda Congress, Mr Choudhury pointed out the death report of some Malda people owing to starvation. Mr Choudhury said: “Even if a single person is found dead owing to starvation, the administration will be answerable.”Mr Choudhury repeatedly said: “Many Malda people have died owing to starvation. If this situation remains unchanged, we will soon launch an agitation before the district magistrate office.”Mr Choudhury also attacked the police department for their highhandedness and said: “The public will lose respect for the police department, if they do not behave well with the people.”The agitated Malda MP disclosed: “The ruling parties, be it Congress or CPI-M, do not care for the welfare of the people.” Only ‘democracy’ can save them and we have to fight for democracy,” he added.Stressing on the need to be united and urging them to shirk internal squabbling, Mr ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury, said: “If you are not united it will be difficult to fight for your rights and I will not be able to save you from the attacks of the ruling party’s malicious policies.” The MP has also urged the present Congress workers to adopt a policy of unity and requested them to formulate a policy to eradicate poverty and unemployment in the district. #
