MALDA , Jan 2:- The Malda district magistrate has intimated the English Bazaar civic body chief not to allow fou-storied buildings (ground floor plus three) on either side of National Highway 34 or on the eastern side of the existing airport field. In reference to a recent letter from the Airports Authority of India, the district magistrate Mr C R Das wrote the letter to the English Bazaar civic body chief on 28 December. It was mentioned that before final survey for operating the Malda airport, the municipality should not permit any highrise construction in the mentioned areas. It may be noted that the Airports Authority had been objecting construction of multi-storied buildings in these areas since the process to revive the airport began.
