MALDA, May 23: The West Bengal PCC chief Mr Priya Ranjan Das Munshi today said that the name of the new Malda zilla parishad sabhadhipati was yet to be decided upon. He asked his party supporters not to dwell on media reports on the subject.He also admitted that his party was in a quandary on the saha sabhadipati issue. The Malda saha sabhadhipati's post is reserved for a Scheduled Tribe candidate and the Congress does not have any ST candidate among its elected ones to the ZP. Under the circumstances, it either has to look towards the BJP or the CPI-M as they have one victorious ST candidate each.Appealing to party workers and the elected candidates to accept the candidate the high command would finally select, Mr Das Munshi said that the supporters were free to suggest any name they wished to the district leaders but not create any rift in the party on the matter. “The sabhadipati's name would be finalised very soon,” he assured.The WBPCC chief, however, admitted that the Congress needed to consider the matter of filling up the saha sabhadhipati's port seriously before taking a decision on the matter. It is being speculated that taking a queue from the Delhi line of politics, Mr Das Munshi could approach the CPI-M, which has an elected tribal candidate.
