Police on high alert over Maoist menace

MALDA, 22 FEB: Apprehending attacks from Maoists, all police stations in the state have been alerted. Following the instructions, the district police officers have asked police personnel not to sit idle over the issue.

After the attack on Silda EFR camp, it has been decided that even reserve force will be deployed in civil uniform. In ‘police line’ reserved forces have to carry on duty in plan cloths around the police stations.

In Malda police-line the reserved police forces have been deployed in plan clothes around the English Bazaar as well as other police stations. The Malda SP Mr Bhuban Mandal, acknowledged the information and said that police have been alerted to keep a watch on any suspicious persons around the police stations.

Senior police personnel said that Maoists have targeted police stations in the state to show their strong hold before the operation “Green Hunt”.

Meanwhile, the Malda police have set up a sub-divisional police control room in Chanchal separately on Friday to keep in touch with the three police stations located in the area along the Bihar Bengal border. The top police officers have trained the officers of all police stations and have asked them to send information as soon as possible. SNS
