Security beefed up in Indo-Bangla border

Statesman News Service
MALDA, Oct. 6: The Malda district administration today urged the BSF officials to step up security in the border areas to avoid infiltration. The move comes a day after 24 Bangladeshi nationals were intercepted at Sustani More in Malda’s English Bazaar police station area on charges of entering the country without valid documents.“We have instructed the officials concerned to find out how the 24 Bangladeshis managed to enter the country. The matter will be brought to the notice of the BSF’s higher authorities,” the Malda SP, Mr DK Mondal, said.It may be recalled that a group of 24 Bangladeshi nationals had entered into the country looking for a job yesterday. The police intercepted them when they were waiting for the agent who had assured them of providing job. “Efforts are on to arrest the agent,” the SP, said.
