Dacoit lynched

MALDA, Sept. 21: A robber was beaten to death by locals on BS Road, in the heart of English Bazaar town, this evening.According to police, a group of three armed robbers entered into the jewellery shop of one Mr Subhendu Neogi during a power cut this evening. They roughed up Mr Neogi and tried to loot jewelleries from his shop. Mr Neogi, however, raised an alarm and the locals managed to catch one of the dacoits. They later lynched the dacoit before the police could reach the spot. An injured Mr Neogi is undergoing treatment at the Malda district hospital.While one of the three dacoits was declared brought dead at the Malda district hospital, the other two managed to escape from the jewellery shop after the locals chased them.
