Statesman News Service
MALDA, Sept. 28: Police have so far not been able to achieve any breakthrough in the investigation of Maya Sarkar and her 22-year-old daughter Anusha Sarkar's murders. Maya, a schoolteacher and wife of late Hem Sarkar, AI of Schools, and Anusha, a Physics (honours) student of Malda College were found murdered at their Air View Complex residence here last morning.Police today interrogated one Subhankar, Anusha's boyfriend, but failed to get any clue. "The investigation is on and several persons are being interrogated in connection with the dual murder," the Malda superintendent of police, Mr DK Mondal, said. No one has so far been arrested, he added. The police, meanwhile, have sealed Maya's house so that experts can take figure prints from the spot. The CID team from Kolkata is yet to reach here. Maya's elder daughter, Ananya Sarkar, a Mathematics student of Jadavpur University in Kolkata returned home today. Since Ananya is shell-shocked with the incident, the police have so far not interrogated her. Ananya's maternal uncle, Mr Nani Gopal Saha, has been requested by the police to look after her. Meanwhile, members of the All India Democratic Students' Organisation have called a 12-hour students' strike in Malda on 1 October to protest against the murder of Anusha and her mother.
