Mamata rally draws thousands

MALDA, Sept. 28: Trinamul Congress chief Miss Mamata Banerjee led a candlestick rally here today to protest against alleged lawlessness in the state. Thousands of people participated in the rally that started from the Malda Indoor Stadium.Miss Banerjee demanded a CBI inquiry into the mysterious death of Rizwan-Ur-Rehman. "I do not believe in inquiry commission. It is nothing but a move to delay investigations," she said. "The government is trying to suppress the case by ordering a CID probe into it. The state had also tried to suppress Tapasi Malik murder case by appointing CID. However, after CBI inquiry it was found that the CPI-M leaders were the main conspirators and now they are behind the bars," Miss Banerjee, added. The Trinamul supreme did not forget to play ABA Ghani Khan cards to woo the people of Malda. "Only Trinamul Congress is capable of filling the vacuum created by Ghani Khan's death. The Trinamul has the capacity to take on the CPI-M," she said. Miss Banerjee criticised both the state and the Centre for not initiating any master plan to prevent floods in north Bengal and improve the condition of tea estates in the region.
