MALDA, Nov. 25: The CPI-M would field Sheikh Ketabuddin, as the Left Front candidate for the forthcoming Sujapur by-poll in Malda.
The Malda CPI-M district secretary Mr Jiban Moitra had suggested his name to the state committee for the final nod a few months back considering his performance in the rural polls.
Sheikh Ketabuddin is an elected member of the Malda zilla parishad. He secured a record-winning margin in the last rural polls. He is also the secretary of CPI-M's Sujapur local committee.
Meanwhile, the Congress nominee for the by-poll, Miss Mousam Noor launched her campaigning in Sujapur constituency three weeks ago. Miss Noor, a BA and LLB student, is appealing for votes assuring to fulfil her mother's (who was the previous Sujapur MLA) dreams. n SNS
