MALDA, Nov 23: Danesh Ali (50), a contractor, died after police raided his house at Bagmara village under Kaliachak police station this morning.
To evade police arrest Danesh started runingbefore police arrived at his house. While running he fell down and died on the spot. Police allegedly forced Danesh’s wife to give them a written statement that her husband was ill.
Two police men suddenly raided the house of Danesh last night and picked up two persons who had came to his house from Hooghly district. After interrogating the two persons, police got to know that Danesh had received huge amount from them for handing over some ‘stolen idols'. Police later got to know that Danesh planned to inform police with the help of his neighbour about ‘ unknown’ persons and did not have any relation with them .
But after the death of Danesh police are in no position to unearth the mystery of financial transaction among them.
When villagers came to know about Danesh's death, they rushed him to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead. Villagers informed the police after the incident. Police then sent the body for post mortem.
Police are still interrogating the two persons.
