MALDA, April 8: Export to Bangladesh through land customs stations in West Bengal was suspended from Friday, following an order by the Bangladesh government, customs officials said today. Hundreds of lorries are lined up at Mahadipur land customs stations in Malda due to this order. The Malda exporters’ association said: “The order said that Bangladesh officials would not receive export goods on Friday and Saturday.” Mr Ujjal Saha, an exporter, said: “It is difficult for us to save perishable items loaded in lorries that reached here Thursday evening.” The exporters’ coordination committee today asked the federation of Indian exporters’ organisations to look into the matter.
