CPM-RSP alliance complete

MALDA, April 21: The Malda CPI-M has finally managed to make a total alliance with the RSP leaders in the major parts of this district after nominating three RSP block level leaders for zilla parishad seats in this panchayat polls. The CPI-M district secretary has agreed to give up more ZP seats for the RSP if they come forward to adjust seats in panchayat samiti and gram panchayat levels. “We are ready to nominate more RSP candidates for Zilla Parishad if they withdraw their candidates in gram panchayat and panchayat samiti level,” said Mr Jiban Moitra, the district secretary of the CPI-M and district Left Front convener. The RSP had contested nine Zilla Parishad seats in the last panchayat polls here and secured a decent votes where the CPI-M had lost its three seats and could not come to power in Malda Zilla Parishad. The RSP leaders told reporters they were trying to make a total alliance with the CPI-M and other allies. The CPI-M could not finalise a few Zilla Parishad seats in the northern part of Malda, particularly in Chanchal area, where the date of nomination has been extended. But the district CPI-M leadership is hoping positive results to recapture the Zilla Parishad after nominating three RSP local leaders in Kaliachak and Ratua blocks. n SNS
