Power cuts disrupt normal life

MALDA, April. 23: Power cut continues unabated thrice a day and at night. Residents of English Bazaar town and this district as a whole are in a very uncomfortable position during long hours of power cut due to prevailing heat wave . Considering the situation the electricity department had cut power at about 4.15 am today and started its supply before 6 am. But about 2.30 pm today the department had to cut power for an hour leaving people facing the hot weather and high humidity. Though the department is trying hard to adjust time of T20 IPL cricket match by supplying power for television watchers but some times it could not maintain uninterrupted power supply during IPL match. Yesterday, the power supply was normal during T20 match but on Monday many people could not watch second innings of the match due to power cut. The district officials of the electricity department said: “We are helpless because it is controlled by headquarters based on demand and supply of power situation”.
