No contest : CPM to win panchayat seats

MALDA, April 21:- The CPI-M may win two panchayat samiti seats without contest at Majampur in Kaliachak- I block area. No one belonging to the Congress or other parties has been able to file nomination in the two seats of Kaliachak -I panchayat samiti.The CPI-M party sources said the last panchayat poll results were the same. Out of three panchayat samiti seats, the Congress has been able to file nomination for one. It is also learnt that the CPI-M may win nine gram panchayat seats without contest out of 12 members of Majampur GP board. Only in two seats there will be contest between the CPI-M and the Congress. The CPI-M workers and local leaders are waiting for the day of scrutiny of these nomination papers, which is scheduled to be held tomorrow, to gear up polls campaign for zilla parishad seat there. On the other hand, the CPI-M has not been able to file nomination in 17 GP seats for Naoda Jadupur G P under Kaliachak-I P S. Following protests from local people backed by the Congress the CPI-M has finally decided to stay off filing nomination to avoid confrontation with the Congress but inspired its allies to file nomination so that Congress candidates can not win 17 seats without contest.
