MALDA, 31 MARCH: Chief minister Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is scheduled to visit Malda on 10 and 11 April to review the performance of minority welfare department and other administrative works related to development in this district.
On 11 April the chief minister will address a rally in tribal dominated belt inaugurating an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Hapania near Kanturka in Habibpur block.
According to the district administrative officials, Mr Bhattacharjee will mainly review the ongoing projects for the development of minorities and respective areas including multi sectoral development projects (MSDP) and funds released for development of madrassas.
The district magistrate, Mr Sridhar Ghosh, has asked all concerned departments to prepare status report of the ongoing projects and proposals of various projects for development.
According to the CPI-M MLA of Habibpur, Mr Khagen Murmu, the chief minister will inaugurate newly constructed ITI on 11 April around 11 am.
Four local people, including three tribal families, donated land for the construction of ITI there. The building of the ITI was constructed on a total of 10.5 bigha land providing other facilities.
This is second ITI in the district. The department of technical education in the state had allotted Rs 3.32 crore for setting up the ITI here.
Considering the plight of the tribal youths we had planned to set up ITI here so that tribal youths who leave schools after class VIII to X can continue their technical education and get employment opportunities.
The project was sanctioned in 2007 and the construction of its building was started in 2008.
