MALDA, July 23: The water level in the Ganga is on the rise in Malda district following heavy rainfall in upper catchment areas, Mr S Misra, the executive engineer of Malda irrigation division, said today. Meanwhile, the irrigation officials have lifted red signal from the protected zone in northern Malda as the water level in the Fulohar river has begun to recede. "The water level in the Fulohar was 28.15 metre below the danger mark today," the irrigation officials, said. The officials, however, added that the water level in the Ganga would cross the danger mark tomorrow. n SNS
