Talks to bring dropouts home

MALDA, July 24: The Malda district magistrate, Mr CR Das, and a senior Sarba Shiksha Abhijan (SSA) official from Kolkata held a meeting with the district education officials here today to discuss ways of bringing all dropouts back to schools. Panchayat officials and sabhadhipati of Malda Zilla Parishad were also present at the meeting. In Malda district, the number of dropout students, aged between 5 to 13 years, is nearly 1.30 lakh, officials said. The Malda district education officials are finding it difficult to bring the dropouts back to schools under the SSA scheme owing lack of infrastructure in primary and secondary schools. The SSA official today urged the Malda district administration to extend all possible help to the education officials to improve infrastructure in schools.
