Murdered girl's laptop recovered

Statesman News Service
MALDA, Oct. 1: Police recovered a laptop of Anusha Sarkar from the house of Debapriya Pal, one of the two persons arrested on charges of murdering Anusha and her mother Maya Sarkar. The laptop was missing since Anusha and her mother were found dead at their Airview complex residence on Thursday morning. Police, however, are yet to trace the weapon used by Subhankar Sarkar and Debapriya Pal in murdering the murder-daughter duo. Both Debapriya and Subhankar are in police custody. Maya's elder daughter Ananya Sarkar, a student of Jadavpur University in Kolkata, who returned here a day after the incident, has not yet been able to enter her house as the police have sealed their residence for the sake of investigation. "We are doing our best to complete investigations based on circumstantial evidences. We have requested Ananya to cooperate with police for few hours," the Malda ASP, Mr S Sarkar, said. A local CPIM councillor, Mrs Sutapa Ghosh and her associates have extended all cooperation to Ananya to perform the last rites of her mother and sister. Today, members of the All India Democratic Students' Organisation organised a students' strike in the town to protest against the brutal murder of Maya and Ananya. Intellectuals and female teachers from various schools staged a demonstration at Head Post Office More yesterday to protest against the incident.
