Two held with explosive in Malda

Statesman News Service
MALDA, Oct. 7: Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house at Kothabari in Malda town today and arrested two persons with six crude bombs, one improvised pipe gun and three cartridges. Police said the arrested persons are the residents of Kamalpur in the English Bazaar police station area. According to police, the arrested persons were staying in a rented room at Kothabari. The police have sought help from the Border Security Force authorities to defuse the bombs. The Malda superintendent of police, Mr DK Mondal, said: "The arrested persons are probably criminals. From preliminary investigations, we can say that they are not extremists. They probably assembled here to commit robbery."
