Malda, Nov. 6: Four more modified ration dealers would be suspended soon, Malda district controller of food and supplies said today. After public outrage on the ration issue, a total of 19 dealers have been suspended, he said. “Tensions prevailed in many blocks,” he added. Food officials will seek the help of the police for the dealers tomorrow when the dealers would distribute food materials among the public. According to the Malda SP Mr D K Mondal the villagers had held a meeting with the ration dealers of Kaliachak and Chanchal Blocks throughout the day. Police forces have been deployed in many places where the people are staging demonstration against the dealers. No untoward incident took place today, the SP said.
