MALDA, 4 JAN: The assistant secretary, home department, Writers’ Building, has sought detailed particulars of four blocks in the district in response to the district administrative’s proposal to form a new Gazole sub-division for the development of tribal dominated areas.
After receiving the letter from home department on 22 December, the district magistrate Mr Sridhar Ghosh today asked the concerned officials to prepare a report on the four district blocks including the map of the proposed Gazole sub-division. On 15 September, 2009 the district magistrate Mr Sridhar Ghosh had sent a proposal to the additional chief secretary, requesting him to form another sub-division in the district for the betterment of the tribal dominated four blocks.
At present the district has only two sub-divisions. Since 1999 the district administration took initiative to form Chanchal sub-division and finally the state accepted the decision. Then the Chanchal sub-division was formed comprising six blocks out of 15 ones.
The rest ten blocks were under the Malda sadar sub-division. The district administration had finally decided to form another new sub-division in Gazole comprising Gazole, Bamongola, Habibpur and Old Malda blocks in Barind Belt, out of nine
The home department has also asked the district magistrate about availability of land, particularly vested land to build basic infrastructures for administrative setup of a sub-divisional headquarter in Gazole. The land officials are preparing the list of vested land in Gazole town. ;SNS
