Five arrested for killing domestic help

MALDA, 2 MARCH: The police arrested five persons yesterday for allegedly killing a 12 year old domestic help. The victim was a tribal girl. The locals recovered her body from her employer Mr T K Shaw’s go-down at Gayespur in English Bazaar town. Mr Shaw is in jail custody.

Informed by the locals, police went to Mr Shaw’s house and recovered the victim’s body. According to police, Mr Shaw had brought the girl form Tapan in South Dinajpur for domestic work.

According to the police, primary investigation reveals the girl underwent physical torture. When she fell ill and unconscious yesterday morning, Mr Shaw’s family sent her to a local nursing home.

It is learnt that after diagnosing here condition was serious the doctors had advised the employer’s family to admit the girl in hospital. No paying heed to the doctors’ advice the employer’s family brought her back home where she died, the police said.

The five arrested persons were produced in Malda court today and sentenced to jail custody.

The Malda SP Mr Bhuban Mandal said that police have initiated a case against the accused persons on child labour (prohibition and prevention) Act and other sections of the IPC.
