The number you have dialed is incorrect

MALDA, 3 MARCH: Essential and emergency telephone numbers published in the Malda district magistrate’s diary 2010 and which was circulated widely among officers and others in the district, are incorrect. Besides, several mistakes have been detected in the column of district profile, information and official contacts. Users are confused with the telephone numbers printed in the diary for services like ambulance, mobile police station, fire station in Chanchal sub division and other emergency services. It can be surmised that care was not taken to update the telephone numbers and the faux pas has caused tremendous embarrassment to the district administration. According to the diary, Malda has a mobile police station and its telephone number is 9434206708. But, according to the Malda SP Mr Bhuban Mandal, Malda does not have any mobile police station. “I do not know how the number was printed”. The SP said. Similarly, the diary mentions a landline number of ambulance service, but according to a Malda district hospital ward master, the hospital has suspended its ambulance services.District magistrate Mr Sridhar Ghosh said: “I know about the mistakes in the diary. It appears the staff responsible had not verified the numbers before issuing printing order. Many government offices have been left out of the list published in the diary as well”. SNS
