Adhir Chowdhury named Murshidabad Cong leader

MALDA, Feb. 21: Admitting the problem of factional feud among Congress leaders in Murshidabad, the PCC chief Mr Priya Ranjan Das Munshi today projected Mr Adhir Chowdhury, as the leader of party in this district.Addressing the felicitation programme for new PCC chief, organised by the Behrampore MP Mr Adhir Chowdhury, Mr Das Munshi said: “Adhir is the only leader here. Every body should accept him. Congress will fight here under the leadership of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury because he has contributed a lot for the party”.Ignoring the existence of other congress leaders like Mr Atish Singha and Mr Mannan Hossain, Mr Das Munshi said: “I can talk to them but they have to accept Adhir as the party leader here. I do not have problem with them. We will overcome the present problem of misunderstanding among the leaders and we want to be united.”Citing some examples Mr Das Munshi said: “Adhir is not only popular in Murshidabad but also in Tripura”.The Union minister urged both Mr Subhash Ghishingh and Mr Bimal Gurung to stay off "blood battle" in the Hills on the issue of controversial Darjeeling Sixth Schedule Bill (Constitutional amendment) which is still under the consideration of the parliamentary standing committee.No leader, belonging to Mr Somen Mitra, was present at today's felicitation programme.Mr Adhir Chowdhury said: “After a long period the PPC chief has been finalised and Mr Das Munshi has started his first political campaigning from here. It is matter of pride."
