2 held for ‘killing’ teachers

MALDA, 12 OCT: Two people were arrested on Friday in connection with the attack on school teachers on 2 October.
Two people were killed and two others injured in the incident, but police could not draw any conclusion about the motive behind the attack despite a thorough interrogation.
Based on some “statements” collected from the two criminals, police have seized a pickup van from Mangalbari area under Malda police station.
Police are trying to nab the owner as well as driver of the vehicle.
They are looking for another suspected person in connection to the incident.
Utpal Sarkar (46), an assistant teacher of Raniganj High School in Gazole, was shot dead at Chhitka-Mahal on National Highway 34 in Gazole police station on 2 October night when he was returning to Malda town in a car accompanied by Mr Ashok Saha, the owner of the car and the head master of Chadravati High School in Gazole.
Interestingly, the criminals had not taken other valuables kept in the car apart from a sum of Rs 10,000.
Police started a case after interrogating Mr. Saha, he is also a business man, for a long time after the incident.
According to the Gazole police station, one Rintu Sheikh and Bablu Sheikh, residents of Kaliachak police station, were arrested on Friday.
Both were remanded in police custody for five days for interrogation.
According to the senior police officer of the Gazole police station, they confessed their involvement in the incident but claimed that they committed crime for snatching valuables from them.
After primary investigation police had come to a conclusion there must be another motive behind the incident after the murder of one teacher, an active member of ABTA.
Police still could not recover the fire arms used to kill Sarkar, who received injures on his neck, succumbed next day when he was on way to Kolkata.
Police are simultaneously exploring all other angles possibly involved with the case examining call lists of mobile phones including the victims.

Fake currency

MALDA, 12 OCT: The police and BSF jointly arrested two persons and seized fake currency from their possession from Baishnabnagar, close to the Bangaldesh border, under Baishnabnagar police station today. The accused have been identified as Majibar Sheikh and Khaleque Sheikh. ;SNS
