MALDA, June 27: The bank officials have selected more than 6,000 farmers to waiver the agriculture loan in Malda region following the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India according to the Central government decision.According to the calculation of the Malda bank nearly 8 crore will be waived for the small and marginal farmers who took loans between 31 March 1997 and 31 March 2007.“We have finalised the waiver list and we are waiting for the Prime Minister's letter before publication. Each beneficiary will be getting the PM's letter as ‘loan weave certificate’ from their respective branches”, said Mr. Tapan Kumar Das , regional manager UBI in Malda .“Hopefully that format of PM's letter will be arriving here today or tomorrow from our head quarter. After that we will hang the waiver list of farmers in more than 40 branches by 30 June”, he said. It may be noted that Central government has instructed the banks to publish the weaver list of farmers by 30 June. According to bank officials nearly Rs. 7.5 crore will be fully surrendered to the farmers. Some farmers will be getting ‘relief’ from the bank based on the guidelines of the RBI, bank officials informed.The Congress leaders have decided to organize the farmers based on the waiver list where they would be getting a direct letter from the Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh which will be treated as loan waive certificate.
