MALDA, June 18: DIG Malda range Dr B R Meghawal, today, questioned several persons including the accused, eyewitness and widow of Biswanath Guho in connection with his murder. Malda Congress leaders and Intuc members expressed their discontent over police inquiry into the murder case. They said they wanted a high level inquiry to find the main culprit behind the murder. The DIG Dr Meghawal questioned Mrs Lakshmi Guho, widow of Biswanath Guho who was the vice-chairman of English Bazaar Municipality and Intuc district president, for an hour. Mrs Lakshmi Guho said she suspected that her husband was murdered so that opponents could get hold of more political power, property and financial share. Driver Akhtar Ali was arrested in connection with the murder earlier.The DIG also interrogated Akhtar and others who were detained on suspicion by police and ‘eyewitness’ in the locality after murder on 12 June late night. According to primary investigation of police, it was revealed that motive behind the murder could be the problem Guho was having with his wife regarding the driver. Intervention of DIG Malda range had embarrassed district police for they failed to draw any conclusion from the murder. n SNS
