Tourist bus turns turtle , three injured


MALDA, June 26: At least 15 tourists including women and children were injured when the reserved bus in which they were traveling collided with a truck at Kamalabari under English Bazaar police station early today. Three of them were admitted to the Malda district hospital in critical condition and rest of them released after treatment. A total of 50 tourists, all are resident of Sherampore in Hooghly and were returning from northeastern states. They planned to visit Tarapith in Birbhum before returning to home. The local villagers extended help to the victims and brought them to hospital. Many of the injured tourists have taken discharge certificates from hospital at their own risk and planned to return home soon with the help of local police station. The Malda police contacted Hooghly police to contact the traveling agent who conducted the tour. It was decided that the traveling agent would provide another bus for them. Mr Gopal Samanta( 60), Mr Nimai Mandal (52) and Mr Radheshyam Baishya (50) are undergoing treatment in Malda district hospital. n SNS
