A regular teacher's 'irregular' job


MALDA, June 9: Believe it or not. An assistant teacher of a government aided school in Malda is working as Principal of another school affiliated to CBSE in other district. This matter came to light following a complaint lodged by guardians of Araidanga area in Ratua police station in Malda recently. One of the guardians, Mr Kajal Sarkar alleged that Dr K Pandey, an assistant teacher for English department of a B D M Academy at Araidanga was working as principal of Atreyee English Academy at Balurghat in South Dinjapur. The District Inspector of schools Mr Chinmay Sarkar has already started investigation and asked the head master of B D M Academy about the complaint lodged by the guardians. “We have got some papers of Atreyee English Academy that indicate that Mr Pandey is working as principal of that educational institution”, said Mr Chinmay Sarkar, district inspector of schools in Malda. “We have asked the headmaster of the B D M Academy, Mr M Kumar that how does he ‘provide service’ to other school in another district being a regular teacher of your school”, said Mr Sarkar.The headmaster of the B D M Academy has already replied to the letter to the district inspector of the schools.The headmaster and the accused teacher reportedly said that Mr Pandey has been serving that schools ‘voluntarily’.“I did not see the reply of the head master.
