Acid attack on mother , son in Malda

MALDA, July 9: In an unfortunately ghastly incident, miscreants poured acid on a mother and her son at Jainpur village, in Malda district, last night. Victims suspect that Shiblal Mandal, from the neighbouring village, is the man behind the plot.According to the victim Mrs Tulsi Singh, the suspect approached her daughter with an indecent proposal, last week and even, threatened to harm them, after it was turned down. “My daughter is married with two children. She was visiting us, last week, when Mandal approached her with his nasty intentions. He even barged into our house and when we asked him to leave, he warned us of dire consequences,” alleged Mrs Singh. According to the victim, her daughter left for Katihar, on Monday, to attend a family function. As Tulsi and her son Bablu slept in their shack, last night, someone stealthily shifted the roof-tiles to pour acid from above. Tension erupted in Jainpur village, as injured mother and son were admitted to the Malda district hospital. The locals are hunting high and low for the asconding attacker, who according to many, is a driver by profession. n sns
