Permanent committees to be formed in all panchayat

MALDA, July 10: Panchayat bigwigs, both elected and ex -officio members, today, embarked upon forming Sthayee (Permanent Committee) Samitities in all the respective Panchayat Samities ( P S ) of Malda. The operation, according to them, will be complete on 22 July.Permanent Committes were formed in the panchayat centres of Old Malda, Gazole, Chanchal I and Harischandrapur I (P S), today. The CPI (M) has proven to be the majority in all the nine permanent committees of Gazole panchayat samiti (P S). To elect Karmadhyakshya, the Congress proved its superiority during formation of permanent committees in Chanchal I and Harishchandrapur - I.Though the Congress and BJP jointly rose to power in Old Malda Panchayat samiti, the L F was the leading power in six permanent committees. The Congress took three permanent committees under its wing.Two congress members, including the Malda MP Mr. A H Khan Choudhury, were absent today to cast their votes to form the Sthayee Samiti in Old Malda. Even, the CPI (M) MLA of Old Malda was not there to cast his vote. To avenge the Congress, the BJP members in Old Malda panchayat samiti were not keen on forming the permanent committee with the same.Earlier, the Congress took side of another member for the post of Saha-Sabhadhipati in Malda zilla parishad. This incident egged the BJPs on to take a drastic step against their rivals.The BJP, initially, had extended support to the Congress to help them form the Old Malda Panchayat Samiti. Infact, the BJP leaders were expecting that the Congress would offer the Saha-Sabhadhipati's post to Mr. Mohan Tudu, an elected BJP member of Malda Zilla Parishad (MZP). The Congress did not have an elected member from the tribal community for the reserved post in MZP. The administration issued a notice to form permanent committee in MZP on 23 July. Election of Karmadhyakshaya will take place on 31 July.
