CM to campaign for LS by-poll

Statesman News Service
MALDA ,Sept. 4: Chief minister Mr Budhhadeb Bhattacherjee is scheduled to reach Malda on Thursday to campaign for the Lok Sabha bypoll in favour of CPI-M candidate Mr Sailen Sarkar. The Congress workers are concerned about the chief minister’s proposed Malda trip, as the former had made a strong impact during his campaign for the recently concluded Assembly polls. The CM had stated during the poll campaign that only the Left Front was capable of fulfilling the dreams of the late Ghani Khan Choudhury. The CM had made the statement in Kaliachak, from where Ghani Khan’s younger brother, Mr AH Khan Choudhury, had subsequently lost in the Assembly polls. Mr AH Khan Choudhury is the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha bypoll also. Although the state Congress leaders held a meeting in Kaliachak and told the people that Mr Bhattacherjee or the Left Front could not bring development, the Congress workers are not ready to take the LF threat casually. They are leaving no stone unturned to garner support from the people. Both the CPI-M and Congress had projected photographs of late ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury yesterday but election officials removed some hoardings put up by the Congress from few places. The CPI-M has also circulated photographs of Mr Ghani Khan which has not come under the notice of the election officials. “If we get such complaint we will take immediate action,” said the SDO, Mrs Arunima De. Many people have received photographs showing Mr Sailen Sarkar shaking hands with Ghani Khan Choudhury.#
