MALDA, Sept. 12: Assistant sub-inspector of police, Md Nijamuddin, was “accidentally” shot at by his colleague, Abdul Khaleque, at Manikchak today. The incident occurred when Abdul was loading bullets into his revolver, a police officer said. The Malda SP, Mr DK Mondal, said: “The accident occurred due to Abdul’s fault because he did not know the right method of loading bullets into his 9-mm service revolver. Doctors at Malda district hospital referred the injured policeman to Kolkata after they failed to remove the bullet from his body”. The two policemen were deployed here for the Malda Lok Sabha by-poll.”
