MALDA, Sept. 10: Members of the Indian Medical Association, Malda branch, today lodged a complaint with the Malda SP, accusing the inspector-in-charge of English Bazaar police station of misbehaving with them. The secretary of Malda IMA, Dr Niladri Saha, alleged that the I-C had misbehaved with the doctors when they (the doctors) had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint against a few hoodlums who attacked the house of a doctor in English Bazaar town on Friday after the death of a baby under controversial circumstances. “Since our security was at stake and the I-C refused to take note of the situation, we were forced to lodge a complaint against him with the Malda SP,” Dr Saha said. The copies of the complaint letter have also been sent to the state officials, including the director of health services. Locals had attacked the house of Dr Subhalakshmi Roy Choudhury and ransacked her private chamber after the death of an eight-month-old baby on Friday. The baby, suffering from breathing problems allegedly died soon after receiving a dose of injection prescribed by Dr Roy Choudhury. Dr Roy Choudhury and the mother of the deceased baby had lodged separate complaints with the English Bazaar police station. While the former had lodged the complaint against the attackers, the latter had filed her complaint against Dr Roy Choudhury. “We are waiting for the post-mortem report,” the I-C of English Bazaar police station, said. The Malda SP, Mr DK Mondal, said he had ordered a probe into the I-C’s alleged misbehaviour. “We must look into such complaints seriously after a thorough investigation,” Mr Mondal, said
