Failed ones to appear in HS exam

MALDA, Dec. 18: Finally the academic council of the Malda Girls’ Higher Secondary School reconsidered 15 girls out of 37 failed students for appearing class XII examination following agitation of their parents to allow them for the exam. A total of 37 failed girls in test for Class XII and guardians backed by some local Congress leaders started agitation demanding promotion for appearing in the final examination from 15 December. The school authorities had disallowed 37 girls on merit out of 126 students appeared in the test. Yesterday, the agitators locked up the main gate of the school detaining all students and teachers outside the school and administration had to intervene to resolve the crisis. The headmistress of the the school, Ms Sutapa Chatterjee said: “Following the instruction of the Malda SDO and DI (secondary) we have reviewed the answer sheets of 80 girls who failed in one and more than one papers. Just to overcome the present crisis we have finally decided to ‘reconsider’ 15 girls for appearing Class XII exam out of 37 who had got very poor marks in the test.” “The result has been published this afternoon and the final results after review of the answer sheet and the copy of the resolution adopted by the academic council have been sent to the district administration today,” Ms Chatterjee said. Hope the guardians and students would accept the fresh publication of results, she added. Yesterday, the Malda sub divisional officer Ms Arunima De, asked the failed students and their guardians to lift their agitation and requested them to accept the decision of reviewing the answer sheets of all the 80 girls. The Malda SDO and the DI also warned them that unsuccessful girls would have to accept the final results based on merit after review.
