MALDA, Dec 27: The district secretary of the Malda Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce, Mr Jayanta Kundu, said today, that they had sent a letter to the general manager, Malda Electricity Distribution Company Limited, requesting him to inform about the schedule of load shedding. “We need to know about the time table of power cuts. If they fail to inform us within seven days, we will stage another demonstration programme in front the GM’s office with our members including industrialists,” said Mr Kundu.The industrial units are suffering from huge losses due to rampant power cut without notice. The WBSEDCL should issue notice publicly about the shedding time fixed by their management, he said. The MMCC has also demanded that industrial zone and growth centre located at Narayanpur in Old Malda should be included within the English Bazaar zone. But it is under the Gazole zone which has been identified as ‘loss making zone’ and its rate of load shedding is more than average of English Bazaar. Since Monday the district is facing rampant power cut. Tuesday and Wednesday it was beyond limit. “Yesterday the industrial lists faced nearly six hours power cut till evening”, said Mr Kundu. “Please contact top officials of Bidyut Bhawan to know about schedule of load shedding.
