MALDA, Aug 12: To avoid police harassment some cyber café owners today shut down their Internet centres in English Bazaar town after receiving notification of a set of guidelines from the district administration. The district magistrate in Malda Mr CR Das has issued a notification to the café owners with a set of guidelines and requested them to abide by them to check cyber crimes. “In this notice it is stated that if any café owner does not follow the prescribed guidelines formulated by the district administration, legal action would be taken against them under section 188 IPC,” said a café owner . After being notified a group of café owners today went to meet the district magistrate office to brief him of some problems to follow the guidelines. Later the café owners decided to shut down their Internet centres. n SNS
