MALDA, Aug 19: The Uttar Banga Unnayan Parishad (UBUP) has allotted Rs 8.39 crore for the development of Malda district. This fund has been allotted at a recent meeting convened by CM Mr Budd-hadeb Bhattacharjee. The chief minister has stressed submission of utilisation certificates of several schemes approved by the UBUP earlier when the Malda district could not submit a single UC in the meeting in comparison with five other districts. The embarrassed district magistrate Mr CR Das explained that owing to Kharba bypoll and rural polls entire process was stalled that prevented them from doing the job. "The sub committee of the UBUP of Malda district would chalk out a plan to utilise the allotted funds of Rs 8.39 crore as soon as possible," the DM said. The district magistrate Mr CR Das told reporters that the UBUP had approved a total of 125 schemes, amounting to Rs 5.53 crore, out of 236 schemes prepared. n sns
