Minority development scheme to get a boost

MALDA, Sept. 7: Department of Minority Affairs of the Central government would interact with the four district magistrates in New Delhi on 9 September to review the schemes prepared for the development of the minority community. These districts in question are Malda, Murshidabad, Birbhum and Burdwan.Four district magistrates have been asked to attend the meeting to present their views on the scheme known as ‘Multi Sect oral Development Plan’ (MSDP) meant for people belonging to the minority community living in these districts.The district administrations of these four districts would be empowered to implement the development plans following ‘approval’ from the minority affairs department. It may be noted that in the 11th five year plan, the Centre has allotted huge funds in phases for the MSDP. The Centre is said to have allotted Rs 68 crore for the development of the minority class in Malda alone. The Malda district magistrate Mr CR Das, before leaving for New Delhi, said he would present schemes prepared for the first phase.“The implementation of the MSDP would span over five years in the four districts including Malda,” he said. The Centre has allotted funds for MSDP in the four districts considering concentration of minority population.
