Priya push to FM radio station and stadium

MALDA, Sept. 3: The Union minister for information and broadcasting, Mr Priya ranjan Das Munshi, today asked Mr Debashis Sarkar, the Chanchal sub-divisional officer in northern part of Malda to start working on two proposed projects ~ FM radio station and stadium.Sources said Mr Das Munshi has planned to lay the foundation stone of the two proposed project before Lok Sabha election in Chanchal, headquarter of northern part of Malda, which belongs to his parliamentary constituency. Today, the Union minister talked to the SDO regarding the present status of the two projects and collection of funds for the stadium.The administration has managed to find a plot of land free of cost in Chanchal for construction of the stadium and has been able to collect Rs 1 crore from various sources out of Rs 3 crore, the estimated cost of the project. Sources said the Union minister has allotted nearly Rs 50 lakh for the project from his own MPLAD. The local MLAs have also contributed.The Union minister ensured the newly formed sub-divisional sports association that he would manage more funds for the completion of the project.On the other hand, the administration has selected four plots of lands to set up a FM Radio station in Chanchal. The proposed radio station requires 3 acres of land. A team of information and broadcasting has already visited the four places recently but it has not finally informed the administration about a particular land suitable for radio station after looking into the feasibility.The Chanchal sub-divisional officer Mr Sarkar said they had selected required three acres of land in four places such as Ranikhet, Kanua, Kaligram and Paharpur village and informed authorities about the cost of lands for acquisition.A few years ago, setting up of a FM radio station in English Bazaar was initiated but not implemented finally.
