MALDA, 10 NOV: The Malda district health authority has started enumeration work to record the exact number of people feared affected by chikungunya in the Gazole block in the past 10 days, the chief medical officer of health, Dr Srikanta Roy, said today.“Health workers would count the number of affected villages and number of patients complaining of fever in Gazole block. Necessary steps would be taken after that,” Dr Roy said. According to him, DDT has been sprayed through out the district including the Gazole block as preventive measure against chikungunya and malaria. Medical teams are working in each identified affected villages for collection of blood samples and to make people aware of the disease, prevention and cure. Nearly 300 persons are suffering from fever in five villages of Gazole block. ;SNS
