Ghani Khan was a charismatic leader: Khan Choudhury

MALDA, 1 NOV: Mr AN Khan Choudhury, who is the brother of ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury, has described his elder brother as a mass and charismatic leader and assured that he would follow in the late leader's footsteps to bring in development in the district.ABA Ghani Khan coudhury was believed to be the Malda Congress patriarch since the 1996 general election. Addressing the 84th birth day of Ghani Khan held at the district Congress office this morning, Mr AN Khan Choudhury, who is contesting the Sujapur bypoll as a Congress candidate, said that "Ghani Khan's manifesto phase I" is over and now he would materialise his unfulfilled dreams, terming it as "Ghani Khan manifesto phase II". Mr Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, MP Behrampore, came to attend the programme here today and said that he had put up an example for all other political leaders as to how a state should be developed. “Political leaders should follow his path”, Mr Choudhury added.Speaking to the reporters, the Behrampore MP said that Ghani Khan's dream must come true by 2011, dislodging the CPI-M led Left Front in the state who had taken up the present formula of alliance between the Congress and the Trinamul. Another brother of Ghani Khan, Mr AH Khan Choudhury, the South Malda MP, cherished the role of the Berhampore MP and asked him to take responsibility of the Congress, not only in Murshidabad but also in the state in future. However, the North Malda MP Miss Mausam Noor was not present in the programme. The Malda Congress had organised various programmes at Ghani Khan's house, at Brindaboni play ground and its party office to remember him on his birthday today.
Ban on animal slaughter
MALDA, 1 NOV: The RSS in Malda organised a programme today demanding complete prohibition of cow slaughtering when the main Rath of Biswa Mangal Go Gram Yatra (BMGGY) reached Malda town today. The Rath had started on Bijaya Dashami from Kurukeshtra spreading the message of “save cow and save village”. The Yatra will end in Nagpur in Makar Sankranti covering across the country within 108 days. The BMGGY samiti sponsored local organizers also displayed medicinal products based on cow's urine for sale with minimum cost. ;SNS
