Murder suspect of former EBM vice chairman arrested

MALDA, 27 NOV: Police today arrested Ganesh Banerjee on charges of murdering Biswanath Guho and produced him in court seeking police remand for ten days for interrogation.Guho was vice chairman of the English Bazaar Municipality and district president of Intuc. He was murdered on the night of 12 June 2008 at his home in English Bazaar town. Interestingly, Mr Banerjee, was a close associates of Biswanath Guho. He has recently joined Trinamul Congress. Police had arrested Mohd Akthar on charges of murdering Guho on 13 June 2008. Akthar used to work as Guho’s driver. Police had interrogated Akhtar and finally decided to conduct his narco test in Bangalore to get clue and motive behind the murder. After Akhtar got bail for three months police finally came to a conclusion yesterday after thorough investigation and arrested Ganesh Banerjee. “Though he was a complainant but we finally arrested him as the suspected one behind the murder, based on evidences”, said Mr Bhuban Mandal, Malda SP.;SNS
