Condolence
MALDA, July 19: The Malda district Roadways Daily Passengers’ Welfare Association and the Malda Bus and Minibus Owners’ Association today paid tribute to the 36 persons who lost their lives in a fatal road accident at Lakshmipur in English Bazaar on the same day two years ago. The bus carrying the 36 passengers had skidded off the road and fell into a ditch, killing 36 passengers. The bus owners’ association observed a two-minute silence at Atul Chandra Kumar Bus Terminus today to pay homage to the deceased. n SNS

The Englishman (founded 1821) was merged with The Statesman in 1934..... I was in REUTERS as text stringer from May 2002 to July 2007 for central and northern West Bengal . I am permanent resident of MALDA , formerly called English Bazaar, a foreign settlement dating from 1680 is known for its mangoes, silk and the museum which houses the archaeological finds at Gour and Pandua , over 203 miles ( 340 km) north of Kolkata , formerly known as Calcutta . Gour, capital to three dynasties of ancient Bengal—the Buddhists Palas, the Hindu Senas and the Muslim Nawabs has seen three distinct eras of glory. Contact No: 94341-70697
