Statesman News Service
MALDA, July 6: The Congress sabhadhipati of the Malda zilla parishad, Mr Goutam Chakraborty announced today that, the district committee for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan has finally approved the recruitment of 1,200 teachers into primary and upper primary schools. Mr Chakraborty said that, the decision, that had been pending for a long time, was finally taken in a district committee meeting yesterday, in the presence of the district magistrate, Mr Chittaranjan Das. He added that, the procedure followed for the recruitment, under the SSA project, has been revamped. Mr Chakraborty said that, in future, no personality test would be conducted for the recruitment of teachers on a contract basis. Mr Chakraborty said: “Teachers’ recruitment henceforth would be entirely on merit basis. Personality tests in recruitment exams will not carry any marks, in order to check manipulation. The interview board had earlier allotted five marks for the personality test.” He also pointed out that, legal proceedings will be expedited in case of detection of fake certificates, produced by applicants, along with their testimonials.
