MALDA July 31: Hundreds of CPI-M activists, including women, staged roadblock in various places at English Bazaar town today, demanding immediate arrest of the English Bazar MLA, Mr KN Choudhury, who allegedly assaulted Mrs Jyotsna Choudhury, the CPI-M pradhan of Binodpur gram panchayat, during the general body meeting of the English Bazaar panchayat Samiti on Saturday. The CPI-M workers staged demonstrations on the road and in front of the English Bazaar block office, to protest against Mr Choudhury’s alleged misbehaviour with the women members of the party. Hundreds of angry CPI-M workers shouted slogans against Mr Choudhury. It may be recalled that CPI-M gram panchayat pradhan , Mrs Jyotsa Choudhury and another office bearer of English Bazaar panchayat Samiti, Mr Rahul Deb Barman, had lodged two separate complaints against the MLA on Saturday with the English Bazaar police station. Police have sent the complaints to the Speaker of the Assembly seeking his permission before taking any legal action against him, officials said.
